Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, the parody biopic about the man known for song parodies such as “Eat It,” “Like a Surgeon,” “I Think I’m a Clone Now,” and “My Bologna,” is coming to the Roku Channel (yes, that’s the first time I’ve heard of this channel too).
The trailer features Daniel Radcliffe in full-out Weird Al wear—from the hair and glasses, to the Hawaiian shirts and accordions. The trailer for this film also gets a bit meta, as the full feature came out of a 2013 fake trailer from Funny or Die where Aaron Paul played Weird Al.
To put it another way, this parody biopic stemmed from a fake trailer showcasing a yet-to-be-created parody biopic. Try saying that three times fast!
Here’s the official synopsis for the feature:
The biopic holds nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like “Eat It” and “Like a Surgeon” to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. Weird: The Al Yankovic Story takes audiences on a truly unbelievable journey through Yankovic’s life and career, from gifted child prodigy to the greatest musical legend of all time.
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story was written by the real Weird Al Yankovic along with Eric Appel (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). It comes to the Roku Channel sometime this Fall.
